I f there’s anything that 2020 has taught us is that food delivery is here to stay. With the increase in popularity of food delivery apps like Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Postmates, there has never been a better time for an operator to take advantage of technological innovation to get their food in front of consumers. With all the new delivery options, it’s proven to be a valuable resource for operators to increase orders without having to invest in the technological and logistical infrastructure to support mobile delivery.

 

Interestingly enough, catering creates a new opportunity for operators to pivot offerings to fit the changing demands with “on-demand dining” desired for both smaller in-home occasions and more individual & sealed options for the workplace. Here’s a stat for you: 38% of restaurant consumers are interested in virtual beverage/food pairing events or chef-/bartender-led classes1. As people continue to stay indoors, we find new ways to socialize and scratch that need for human interaction.
